Accessibility Policy

At Samavesh, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible digital space for everyone, especially Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Our work is rooted in ensuring access to legal identity, scholarships, and higher education for first-generation learners and individuals with disabilities. In line with this mission, we are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website.

Meeting the Standards

We are working towards adopting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA, an international standard designed to ensure websites meet the needs of diverse users. As we build and upgrade our site, we are applying principles of accessible design and development at every stage.

Navigating Our Website

We are in the process of putting the following features in place:

  • Options for visitors to adjust the text size on the screen.
  • Color contrast ratios that meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards for low vision and color vision deficiencies.
  • “Skip to content” links at the top of each page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
  • Text alternatives for images, graphics, and auditory information.
  • Page designs that can be navigated using only a keyboard.

Playing Videos

We are working to ensure that:

  • All new videos produced by Samavesh include captions and downloadable transcripts.
  • For videos where visuals require additional explanation, audio-described versions are available.
  • Older videos are systematically updated to meet accessibility standards.
  • Videos from third-party sources (not produced by Samavesh) may not always include captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions.

Apology & Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that our website is still undergoing changes and may not yet fully meet accessibility standards in some areas. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our users. Your experience matters deeply to us, and we are committed to addressing these gaps as quickly as possible.

Our Ongoing Efforts

We recognize that accessibility is an evolving goal. While some features are already in place, others are being developed and rolled out. We are committed to continuously improving our site to ensure it is accessible to as many people as possible.
