Program Overview

Samavesh Champions is a transformative initiative that uses physical activity, play, arts and life skills education to drive social change and educational equity among children from underserved communities. The program places the right to play, joyful learning, and mental well-being at the heart of its approach.

We work with students in rural, urban and peri-urban communities to improve school retention, promote emotional resilience, foster gender equity, and nurture young changemakers.

The Problem We Are Addressing

Despite constitutional guarantees to education and holistic development, millions of children, especially from marginalised communities, face systemic barriers that hinder their learning and growth.

Our program responds to four interconnected challenges:

  • Low School Retention: Many children, especially adolescent girls, drop out due to a lack of engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
  • Neglect of physical activity and play as essential components of learning and development.
  • Gender Gaps in Participation: Girls often face social and cultural restrictions that exclude them from physical education, play, and creative activities.
  • Lack of Integrated Life Skills and Mental Health Support: Schools rarely provide structured opportunities for children to develop emotional resilience, confidence, and critical thinking skills.
  • Limited Access to Safe and Expressive Spaces: Children from underserved areas often lack spaces where they can move freely, express themselves through art, and build peer relationships.

Why It Matters

Children from marginalised communities often face:

  • Poor school attendance and high dropout rates
  • Lack of access to structured physical education
  • Gaps in life skills, emotional regulation, and mental well-being
  • Social isolation and gender-based barriers, especially for girls

Samavesh Champions bridges these gaps through a holistic, play-based model of learning and leadership.
